Scaffolding, sidewalk sheds and site protection for buildings across all five boroughs, from our Bronx base on White Plains Road.
Century 21 Contracting Corp is a Bronx-based NYC scaffolding company serving all five boroughs. Since 2004, we’ve put up scaffolding, sidewalk sheds, temporary fence and Jersey barriers for building owners, property managers, general contractors, and co-op and condo boards.
If you’re new to this: a scaffold is the temporary frame crews stand on to work on the outside of a building. A sidewalk shed is the covered walkway that keeps pedestrians clear of falling debris. We build both and take them down when the job’s done.
Pipe, frame or suspended scaffolding, depending on the building. Most get pipe. Sidewalk sheds over the walkway. Fence around the site. Jersey barriers where the work zone meets traffic. Our crew erects and removes all three scaffold types. If you only need the equipment, ask us about rental.
Building owners and property managers with facade or exterior work on the calendar. General contractors who need a scaffold sub in any borough. Co-op and condo boards that need a shed up, or need to deal with one that has overstayed, and have other owners to answer to.
It starts with a call or a quote request. Give us the building address, the borough and what you need up: scaffold, shed, fence or barriers. Add a start date if you have one, and tell us if a shed or permit is already in place. We visit the site and work out the permit with you where the job needs one. Then we schedule the installation.
Once the permit's in place, one crew puts up the scaffold or shed. Fence and barriers go up on the same schedule. When the work ends, the same crew takes it all down and clears it off the site.
Owners of buildings taller than six stories must have their facades inspected every five years under FISP, also called Local Law 11. An unsafe finding means protection goes up right away, usually a shed. Supported scaffolds over 40 feet need their own DOB permit.
See our pipe scaffolding service or the DOB’s Facade Safety page. Facing a facade deadline or an unsafe finding? Call (347) 378-9978 with the address and we’ll tell you what the job needs.

Price depends on the building’s frontage and height, how long the scaffold stays up and whether a permit is needed. Send us the address and what you need, and we’ll price it.

We work from 1363 White Plains Rd, so Bronx jobs start with a short trip and a site visit. The borough’s older apartment stock suits the scaffold we build most. By the mid-1930s, almost three hundred apartment buildings stood along the Grand Concourse, many in Art Deco and Moderne style.
In 2011 the city landmarked 78 buildings between East 153rd and 167th Streets, and many of that era’s buildings use polychrome brick and mosaic tile. Crews have to reach that ornament without damaging it. If your building sits in a landmark district, check the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s rules before work starts.
The same office handles Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, with the same site visit before every quote. Same sentence, each borough linked to its own page.
Century 21 Contracting Corp carries $2M in general liability insurance and trains its crews to OSHA standards. For residential home-improvement work where you need a license, we hold a DCWP Home Improvement Contractor license. We coordinate the DOB permit filing each job requires, working with your engineer or architect. The DOB decides every application, so we do not promise approval or a date.
You can look up our license on DCWP’s site, and we provide an insurance certificate on request. General contractors and co-op boards can ask for both documents before signing a contract.

All five: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Every job runs from our Bronx base at 1363 White Plains Rd, and we visit the building before we quote.
We put up three types. Pipe scaffolding uses steel tube and couplers we build around the building, and suits cornices, setbacks and bays. Most jobs use pipe. Frame scaffolding uses prefabricated frames and suits flat walls. Suspended scaffolding hangs from the roof so crews can work down a facade.
Yes. The same crew that puts up the scaffold takes it down when your work ends and clears the sidewalk and facade.
Yes. Fence secures the site for the length of the job, and Jersey barriers separate the work zone from traffic. Both go up on the same schedule as the scaffold or shed, and we pick them up at the end.
Four things set the price: building frontage, height, how long the scaffold stays up and whether it needs a permit. Send us the address and we’ll quote it.
Yes, where the job needs one. We coordinate the DOB filing from the first site visit, working with your engineer or architect. The DOB requires a registered design professional to design most supported scaffolds over 40 feet. The DOB decides every application, so we do not promise approval or timing, but we tell you what the filing needs.
Yes. We hold a DCWP Home Improvement Contractor license and carry $2M in general liability insurance. OSHA-trained crews run every job. You can ask for the license and an insurance certificate before you sign.
90 days at most under Local Law 48 of 2025, with no automatic renewal. Each renewal needs a progress report on the repair behind the shed. Send us your permit’s issue date and we’ll review it and help line up the next renewal.
